ASTANA -- The US Embassy in Astana opened applications for a media development grant in Kazakhstan Thursday (April 5), according to a statement on the embassy website.
The embassy is seeking proposals from Kazakhstan-based organisations to strengthen the nation's media outlets.
Grants of up to $30,000 (9.7 million KZT) will be awarded, with priority going to "projects that yield concrete, measurable results", according to the statement.
Proposals should cover digital and media literacy, new approaches to finding or disseminating news, the development and spread of digital media technologies, advancement of professional journalism standards, and the financial viability of media outlets in Kazakhstan, said the statement.
Proposals are due by May 5.
