DUSHANBE -- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Tajik government Thursday (May 3) in Dushanbe are jointly hosting a panel discussion on preventing violent terrorism, Asia-Plus reported, citing a UNDP press release.

The discussion, titled "UN Support for Prevention of Violent Extremism: Existing Experience", will be held at the National Library of Tajikistan, according to the UNDP's Country Office in Tajikistan.

Tajik government and UN officials, representatives of embassies and international organisations, development partners, civil society members and research institution staffers will participate in the discussion, said the release.

As part of UN plans and strategies to counter violent extremism, Tajikistan last November adopted a 2016-2020 national strategy for fighting terrorism and extremism.
