BISHKEK -- Trade between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan reached $215.7 million during the first six months this year -- a 48% increase from the same period last year, 24.kg reported.
Uzbek Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Komil Rashidov announced the figure at a news conference Wednesday (August 29) in Bishkek.
The countries are not fully using their economic potential, he said, adding, "We have every opportunity ... to increase [annual] trade to $500 million in coming years."
Rashidov confirmed Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's upcoming working visit to Kyrgyzstan scheduled for early September.
Mirziyoyev is expected to attend a Turkic Council summit in Cholpon-Ata and the opening of the 3rd World Nomad Games near Lake Issyk-Kul September 2.
