KARAGANDA -- The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on Thursday (December 13) concluded a three-day train-the-trainer course on risk-profiling techniques for police officers, according to a statement from the OSCE website.

Specialists from Kazakhstan's private sector explained to 30 mid-level officers from the Interior Ministry (MVD)'s Karaganda Police Academy how to identify "the elements of risk profiles, crowd mentality and psychological and communicational methods of influencing an aggressive crowd", the statement said.

The officers also took part in a number of practical exercises aimed at teaching them how to develop a security system to prevent crimes during large-scale events and how to improve information exchange within police units.

The training is part of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana's activities "to enhance security, increase accountability, and promote best practices in security at large-scale events", said the statement.
