Hundreds bid farewell to Tajik family killed in Russian building collapse

KHATLON PROVINCE, Tajikistan -- Hundreds of mourners gathered in Kushoniyon District , Khatlon Province, Monday (January 7) morning to bid farewell to Rajabmo Isoyeva and her three children, who were killed in the apartment building explosion in Magnitogorsk, Russia, December 31, ASIA-Plus reported.

Isoyeva, 24, and her three children -- 6-year-old Ahmad, 4-year-old Fotima, and 3-year-old Muhammad -- were buried in Malik Giyoyev village Monday. The father of the family, Shuhrat Ulfatov, 26, remains hospitalised and unconscious in Chelyabinsk, Russia, and has not been told of the tragedy.

The mother and children's bodies reached Tajikistan Sunday (January 6).

District government officials attended the funeral.

The blast probably stemmed from a gas leak, according to Russian officials. It took 39 lives.

On Saturday (January 5), the Muslim community in Magnitogorsk buried four members of another Tajik family killed in the explosion.
