WASHINGTON, DC -- Uzbek officials discussed co-operation with their US counterparts on labour issues during a working visit to Washington, DC, February 4-6, the Tashkent Times reported Monday (February 11), citing the Uzbek Labour Ministry.
The Uzbek delegation, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tanzily Narbayeva and Minister of Employment Sherzod Kudbiyev, held talks with US Deputy Undersecretary of Labour Martha Newton at the US Labour Department February 6.
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding.
The US government will help Uzbekistan conduct scientific and demographic research in the labour market and provide short-term training courses for various professions, according to the Labour Ministry.
Kudbiyev expressed interest in having a US Labour Department adviser help implement the reforms.
