BISHKEK -- The Pervomaisky (First of May) District Court of Bishkek handed down a one-year suspended sentence to a man found guilty of distributing extremist material on Facebook, 24.kg reported Tuesday (February 12).
The State Committee on Religious Affairs (GKDR) confirmed that the materials uploaded by the man were of an extremist nature and belonged to the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir organisation.
The defendant denied the charges during the court hearing, claiming that he posted no prohibited material on Facebook.
