TASHKENT -- Uzbekistan's foreign trade in January grew by more than one-fourth compared to the same month in 2018, Fergana News reported Tuesday (February 19), quoting the Uzbek government.
Combined exports and imports in January totalled more than $3.3 billion (27.7 trillion UZS), with exports and imports practically equal, according to the government. The January 2019 trade total exceeded the January 2018 figure by 26.8%.
Gold accounted for almost half of the exports by value, while cars and car parts were the costliest imports for Uzbekistan ($709 million [6 trillion UZS]).
Uzbekistan's five largest trading partners are China, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Turkey.
