Kyrgyz authorities detain suspected IS militant trained in Syria

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (GKNB) and the State Border Service jointly detained a native of Osh Province as he attempted to illegally re-enter Kyrgyzstan, reported Wednesday (March 6).

The suspect was attempting to return from Syria, where he allegedly underwent sabotage and terrorist training as a member of a terrorist gang. He was also said to have fought Syrian government forces.

Terrorist leaders ordered the suspect to leave the combat zone, settle in one of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states and await further instructions for terrorist activity, said authorities.
