BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (GKNB) detained a 24-year-old accused of being a member of an international terrorist organisation and recruiting Kyrgyz nationals to fight in Syria, 24.kg reported Wednesday (April 3).
The GKNB identified him only by his initials, A. I.
While working abroad as a migrant, the suspect allegedly helped another Kyrgyz man, identified only as Kh. R., travel to Turkey in order to reach the fighting in Syria.
A. I. is also accused of sending Kh. R. money to finance the terrorist organisation.
The arrest was part of an operation to suppress terrorist recruitment channels, said the GKNB.
