DUSHANBE -- The Dushanbe city court has sentenced a man to 14 years in prison for recruiting for the "Islamic State" (IS), Asia-Plus reported Thursday (May 30).
Charges against Sukhrob Khasanov, 28, included organising an extremist group, carrying out mercenary activities and illegally crossing the border.
Khasanov promoted IS ideas among youth and sent propaganda videos to the mobile phones of teenagers, according to the court.
Khasanov and four teens were detained last September while trying to illegally cross into Afghanistan, it added.
