TASHKENT -- Uzbek Defence Minister Bakhodir Kurbanov is visiting the United States this week, US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum told journalists in Tashkent Wednesday (July 10).
Kurbanov will meet with officials in Washington, including Acting US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper, Rosenblum said in a statement from the US Embassy in Tashkent.
Kurbanov will also visit military bases and academies during his trip, AKIpress reported Friday (July 12).
The minister will discuss the possibility of receiving military equipment from the United States, said Rosenblum, as cited by AKIpress. If the countries agree on the terms, Uzbekistan would receive some equipment for free and purchase the rest.
