DUSHANBE -- The Tajik Ministry of Defence Tuesday (August 6) inaugurated a Regional Explosive Hazards Training Centre in Dushanbe, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said on its website.

Tajik security officials and representatives of the OSCE and the US embassy in Dushanbe attended the event.

"The Armed Forces of Tajikistan are mandated to address explosive hazards threats. We are particularly satisfied that this regional training centre has become widely recognised among Central Asian states and beyond," said Lt. Gen. Emomali Sobirzoda, Tajik military chief of general staff, at the ceremony.

The centre was established under the OSCE's "Integrated Co-operation on Explosive Hazards Programme" with the support of the US embassy.
