Kyrgyz, UN officials hold discussions on peacekeeping


NEW YORK -- Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov and United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix conferred on co-operation on peacekeeping, AKIpress reported Monday (September 30), citing the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.

The two met at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The sides discussed Kyrgyzstan's participation in peacekeeping missions and strengthening the capacity of the nation's peacekeepers.

The officials also talked about sending UN specialists to Kyrgyzstan to conduct tests for peacekeepers and to organise various courses.
