NEW YORK -- Turkmenistan on September 30 joined the "Code of Conduct for Achieving a World Free of Terrorism", AKIpress reported Thursday (October 3), citing the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov signed the code at United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.

The move is another confirmation of Turkmenistan's strict commitment to fulfilling the obligations of multilateral documents on combating terrorism, said the ministry.

The code seeks to bring about closer regional and international co-ordination in the fight against terrorism, according to the UN. Kazakhstan proposed the code, which was finalised and opened for signature in September 2018.
