DUSHANBE -- Tajik border troops early August 9 in Khatlon Province broke up an attempt by Afghan drug traffickers to breach the border, AsiaPlus.tj reported August 10, quoting Tajik Border Troops spokesman Mukhammad Ulugkhojayev.
A group of four or five Afghans exchanged gunfire with the border troops and State National Security Committee (GKNB) personnel, Ulugkhojayev said.
The drug traffickers fled back to Afghanistan and left behind weapons and 5kg of heroin, he added.
