Kyrgyz police look for unsupervised children

By Asker Sultanov

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz police September 7-8 conducted raids nationwide in search of children who were not going to school and were lacking parental guidance, the Interior Ministry (MVD) said in a statement.

In two outdoor markets in Bishkek, police found 18 teenagers who were not going to school. They moved to Bishkek because their parents took jobs there, even though the children were enrolled in school districts in other provinces.

Finding such children might help reduce their vulnerability to extremist recruitment and other dangers.
