Ashgabat -- Turkmenistani police, special services, and other law enforcement agencies received orders to take all measures to prevent any incidents leading up to or during independence celebrations, which will take place October 27-28, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) official, who wished to remain anonymous due to security concerns, told Caravanserai on October 17.
"The police and security forces have increased their presence in public places to stop unauthorised gatherings and prevent citizens from taking photos and videos," he added.
According to the official, the state is more closely monitoring internet users to "prevent negative information from leaking out of the country".
