Nazarbayev, Pakistan's Sharif discuss Afghan situation

ASTANA -- Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday (February 2) had a phone conversation about Afghanistan, Vlast.kz reported.

Besides discussing Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the UN Security Council's committee on Afghanistan, the two leaders exchanged opinions on the Afghan situation, Nazarbayev's press office said. They agreed on their countries' interest in attaining peace, stability and domestic harmony in Afghanistan.

Nawaz Sharif invited Nazarbayev to participate in the Economic Co-operation Organisation summit in Islamabad in March.

The leaders expressed satisfaction with the implementation of agreements they reached during Nawaz Sharif's visit to Kazakhstan in August 2015.
