Kyrgyzstan sets November date for next presidential election

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's next presidential election will be held on November 19 in accordance with the constitution, AKIpress reported Wednesday (February 15), citing the presidential press service.

According to the president's press service, Kyrgyzstani President Almazbek Atambayev received Chairman Nurjan Shayldabekov of the Central Election and Referendum Commission on Wednesday.

"In the remaining nine months leading up to the election, we must overcome all shortcomings and lapses in our work, and ensure an entirely open and honest presidential election," Atambayev said during the meeting. "Only an honest and free election can provide legitimacy for the government and guarantee national stability."
