AKTAU, Kazakhstan -- Imams in Mangystau Province are undergoing training to bolster their religious qualifications, the Counter-Terrorism Committee of Kazakhstan said Wednesday (March 1), quoting the Mangystau province central mosque's press office.
Fifteen Mangystau imams are undergoing a two-day-long course Wednesday and Thursday (March 1 and 2).
The imams are learning how to protect their followers from non-traditional religious movements and how to rehabilitate former cultists.
Such courses take place in Mangystau every two months.
