ASHGABAT -- Eighteen Turkmen defendants received lengthy prison sentences on various charges in Ashgabat, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL)'s Turkmen service reported Tuesday (April 4).
The trial took place February 8 in closed session but became public knowledge only now.
All of the 18 were convicted of inciting social, ethnic or religious hostility.
Their sentences ranged from 12 to 25 years.
