ASTANA -- The Kazakhstani military is creating a rapid reaction force to strengthen the country's ability to put down terrorist threats, Defence Minister Saken Zhasuzakov told the lower chamber of parliament Monday (April 24), according to Zakon.kz.
The armed forces have identified the troops and resources who will comprise this force, he said, adding that they are continuing to hold inter-agency exercises.
In recent years, operational exercises and combat readiness exercises have grown in frequency by 2.5- and fivefold, said Zhasuzakov, adding, "Now we're accentuating the quality [of the exercises]."
