TASHKENT -- A US delegation from Mississippi conferred on possible ties with Uzbek officials Wednesday (September 19) in Tashkent, the Uzbekistan National News Agency reported.
Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov received the delegation, which was led by US National Guard Maj. Gen. Janson Boyles, the adjutant general of Mississippi. US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Pamela Spratlen also attended the talks.
The sides discussed strengthening relations between Uzbekistan and Mississippi, among broader US-Uzbek ties.
Boyles also brought up potential co-operation between the National Guard of Mississippi and relevant Uzbek agencies.
One way that the US military has assisted with enhancing partner nation enlisted leadership is through the National Guard’s State Partnership Programme. The programme links National Guard units of various US states with partner nations in support of security cooperation efforts.
