Jeenbekov arrives in New York for UN General Assembly debate
NEW YORK -- Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov arrived in New York Monday (September 24) to participate in the General Debate of the 73rd Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
The annual General Debate, which will see world leaders discuss global issues, is set to run from Tuesday to Saturday (September 25-29), according to the UN official website.
Jeenbekov is expected to address the session and to confer with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and other heads of state.
Jeenbekov is also scheduled to inaugurate a photo exhibition in the UN Dag Hammarskjöld Library dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov (1928-2008), according to 24.kg.
