2 missing Tajiks are ISIL members, MVD says

Staff Report

DUSHANBE -- Two Tajiks, whose passports were recently in the possession of a suicide bomber and a suspected terrorist in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, are in Syria fighting for the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Tajik Interior Ministry (MVD) said in a September 7 statement, according to a September 7 Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty report.

The two Tajiks are Firdavs Bobojonov and Zoyir Khalilov. Police said they have no idea how the bomber and the suspected terrorist in Bishkek obtained Bobojonov and Khalilov's passports.

A suicide bomber, Kyrgyz national Izzatillo Sotiboyev, blew himself up outside an embassy in Bishkek August 30. He had Bobojonov's passport on him, the Tajik MVD said.

Police in Kyrgyzstan made four arrests in connection with the blast.

One of the suspects in Kyrgyz custody had Khalilov's passport when arrested.
