DUSHANBE -- Tajik authorities in 2016 detained more than 400 individuals in connection with suspicion of terrorist activity, Interior Minister Ramazon Rakhimzoda said in Dushanbe, according to a Friday (January 20) Avesta.tj report.
The Interior Ministry (MVD) prevented 36 terrorist acts last year, Rakhimzoda added.
More than 50 suspected terrorist detainees in Tajikistan last year were members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), he said.
