Tajik border guards kill 2 Afghan smugglers

DUSHANBE -- Tajik border guards Monday night (June 19) killed two Afghan weapon and drug smugglers who were trying to breach the border, Avesta.tj reported, quoting a source at the Tajik Border Troops press office.

The clash took place in Khamadoni District, Khatlon Province. The Afghans ignored the troops' warning and a battle broke out.

Two Afghans were killed, said the Border Troops source, adding that the survivors fled back to Afghanistan. The border guards found 21kg of hashish, two Kalashnikovs and two grenades.
