TASHKENT -- Authorities are conducting the periodic Operation Sweep-Anti-Terror in Tashkent for the run-up to Uzbekistan's Independence Day (September 1), Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's (RFE/RL) Uzbek service reported Monday (August 7), quoting the Interior Ministry (MVD).
The city-wide operation began July 30. So far law enforcement has inspected more than 96,000 apartments, 34,380 single-family residences and 5,452 institutions and organisations, said the MVD.
