Tajik parliament ratifies visa-free travel for Uzbekistanis
DUSHANBE -- Visa-free travel for Uzbekistanis visiting Tajikistan is set to begin, AsiaPlus.tj reported.
Tajikistan's lower house of parliament Monday (March 19) ratified a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on visa-free travel signed in Dushanbe on March 9.
The agreement allows 30-day visits to each country without a visa.
Lower chamber speaker Shukurjon Zukhurov ordered Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry to immediately notify Tashkent about the ratification. The move will allow Uzbekistani citizens to visit Tajikistan without a visa beginning Tuesday (March 20).
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the travel agreement March 14. It will bring to an end an 18-year-old visa requirement for each country's citizens.
