KABUL -- Recent violent incidents killed at least 78 militants, 19 security officials, a tribal elder and three sisters across Afghanistan, whereas 70 besieged troops were rescued during a clearing operation in Faryab Province.
At least 15 militants of "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) and six police officers were killed during insurgents attack on administrative headquarters in Haska Mina District of Nangarhar Province June 11, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported.
Security forces killed at least 46 militants and arrested four others during recent operations across the country in past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said June 12, according to Afghanistan Times.
A Haqqani Network commander and 13 ISIL fighters were among killed insurgents, the MoD said, adding that 11 army soldiers also lost their lives during these operations.
Security forces killed at least 15 militants and detained as many during offensives carried out in Kunduz City, the capital of Kunduz province, 20th Pamir Army Division said in a statement June 12, according to TOLO News.
Separately, security forces cleared about 30 villages and rescued 70 security personnel besieged by militants for 13 days in Almar District of the Farah province, during June 12 operation, provincial police chief Sayed Aqa Adrabi said, according TOLO News.
A bomb blast in Bolan area of Lashkar Gah, the Helmand's provincial capital Anar Bagh locality of Bolan area of Lashkar Gah, killed a police post commander Ziaul Haq and his guard June 12, officials told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The same day, at least two militants were blown by their own explosives they were placing in a vehicle for sabotage activity in Gargatai area of Kot District, Nangarhar province, the governor's spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Meanwhile, militants shot dead a tribal elder, Malik Awal Khan on his way to Surkhrud from Khogyani District, Pajhwok Afghan News reported June 12.
In other news, three sisters aged between 18 to 20 years, were reportedly killed by militants in Kharwar District of Logar when they were returning home from a hill, the governor's spokesman Salim Saleh said June 12, adding that the area was under the control of the Taliban militants, Khaama Press reported.
