Turkmen president orders stepped-up security activity

ASGHABAT -- Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov July 26 ordered law enforcement to step up protection of economic security and of the country's political climate, Char Tarapdan radio reported. A further description of those measures was not given.

Law and order and the tranquillity of citizens are the main factors in ensuring further development of the state, Berdymukhamedov said during a joint session of the cabinet and Turkmen Security Council.

Berdymukhamedov reportedly has been concerned by the fatal terrorist attacks in Aktobe and Almaty, Kazakhstan, of June 5 and July 18.
