New Kyrgyz law strips terrorists of citizenship

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev August 4 signed into law amendments enabling the government to strip citizenship from convicted terrorists, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported August 4.

Atambayev signed the amendments to the criminal and administrative codes one day after the government estimated that about 600 Kyrgyz nationals had joined militants in Syria and Iraq since 2011.
