Uzbekistan Airways opens office in Dushanbe

Staff Report

DUSHANBE -- Uzbekistan Airways opened its first office in Dushanbe, Avesta.tj reported Tuesday (April 4).

The office opening was supposed to coincide with the first scheduled nonstop flight from Tashkent to Dushanbe in more than decades. However, the flight did not take place as scheduled, because of insufficient ticket sales, according to Uzbekistan Airways.

The inaugural flight from Tashkent to Dushanbe has been rescheduled for April 11.

Uzbekistan broke off non-stop service between the two countries in 1992, when the five-year-long Tajik civil war broke out.
