Kazakhstan to launch pilot project offering higher education to convicts

ALMATY -- Kazakhstan's government plans to allow convicts to receive higher education while serving their sentences, according to the Interior Ministry (MVD)'s press office, Kazinform reported Thursday (December 21).

A pilot project is expected to begin operating in the 1st quarter of 2018 at two facilities in Almaty and Pavlodar provinces, respectively.

The project will allow inmates to take distance learning courses.
