18 Afghan militants, including 2 commanders, killed

KABUL -- Two key Taliban commanders were among at least 11 militants killed recently in multiple provinces, while seven Taliban were killed in internecine combat in Parwan Province.

A Taliban commander and five al-Qaeda members were killed in respective recent Afghan Air Force raids in Maidan Wardak and Paktika provinces, Dawlat Waziri, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said June 8, according to Khaama Press.

Five Taliban, including a commander, June 6 in Faryab Province were killed in a shoot-out with Afghan troops, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said, Khaama Press reported.

A recent battle between rival Taliban factions in Siah Gard District, Parwan Province, killed at least seven militants, provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Mamozay said June 7, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
