Kyrgyz learn to prevent youth radicalisation

Staff Report

BISHKEK -- About 40 Kyrgyz Interior Ministry (MVD) personnel attended a November 10-12 seminar in Bulan-Sogottu village, Issyk-Kul Province, on preventing "violent extremism and radicalisation that lead to terrorism (VERLT) among youth", the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said in a November 14 statement.

The OSCE, Bishkek-based Iyman Foundation and MVD 10th Main Administration -- the ministry's counter-terrorism wing -- organised the event. Participants "learned about the possible factors driving radicalisation among youth and identified effective tools to prevent this phenomenon", the OSCE said.
