TASHKENT -- The National Information-Analytical Centre on Drug Control under the Cabinet of Ministers recently held a Tashkent news conference to describe Uzbekistan's anti-drug achievements in the past 20 years, Uzbekistan Today reported November 14. The centre recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of its own formation -- November 7.
In 20 years, Uzbekistani law enforcement has recorded more than 174,000 drug offences and confiscated more than 61 tonnes of drugs, according to the government. Authorities also say they have destroyed the capacity to grow drug crops in Uzbekistan.
