Staff Report

TASHKENT -- More than 100 Uzbekistani police, National Security Service (SNB) and Prosecutor General's Office personnel November 9 went door to door in Kasansay District, Namangan Province, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL)'s Uzbek service reported, quoting its own sources.

The security personnel questioned the residents of every apartment or house about family members who had gone away to Turkey or Syria and had never returned, local residents told RFE/RL. Employees of the local government accompanied the security personnel on their interviews.

Uzbekistani authorities are concerned about migrants who might have become radicalised during their long sojourns abroad.
