TASHKENT -- The militaries of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are the strongest in Central Asia, according to the recently released Global Firepower Index 2017.
The study by globalfirepower.com ranked those countries' militaries 48th and 53rd, respectively. Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan ranked 84th, 109th and 112th, respectively.
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are the most populous and wealthiest of the five Central Asian states.
The survey assessed 127 militaries worldwide, depending on more than 50 factors.
