DUSHANBE -- A court in Shahrinav District sentenced a local man to 14 years in prison for recruiting for the "Islamic State" (IS), Avesta.tj reported Thursday (July 27), quoting the general prosecutor's press office.
Gani Abdusattorov was arrested in Kyiv, Ukraine, in February and was extradited to Tajikistan. During his time in Ukraine, he maintained contact with active IS members and sought to recruit new members.
