TASHKENT -- Kazakhstani and Uzbekistani officials signed a plan for military co-operation during Kazakhstani Defence Minister Saken Zhasuzakov's visit to Uzbekistan, the Kazakhstani Defence Ministry said in a statement Saturday (August 19).
Zhasuzakov and Uzbekistani counterpart Kabul Berdiyev discussed "defence co-operation in response to security threats in the region", according to the statement.
The co-operation plan reportedly calls for joint training and joint military education. It is the first such declaration in the two countries' history.
