Tajik troops, Afghan smugglers clashed 17 times in 1st half of 2018


DUSHANBE -- Tajik border guards and Afghan drug traffickers fought 17 times along their countries' shared border in the first six months of 2018, Asia-Plus reported Tuesday (July 24), quoting Tajik Border Troops spokesman Mukhammad Ulugkhojayev.

In those clashes, the border guards killed seven criminals and arrested 21 others, said Ulugkhojayev.

Tajik troops also seized more than a ton of drugs, including 70kg of heroin and about 340kg of opium, as well as 14 firearms and three bombs.
