DUSHANBE -- The US embassy in Tajikistan Tuesday (October 22) took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the donation of radiation detection equipment to the Dushanbe International Airport.
The US Department of Energy, in partnership with the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of Tajikistan, donated the equipment, according to an embassy statement.
The State Customs Service of Tajikistan will maintain and operate the equipment, said the statement.
Countering the smuggling of nuclear materials is a key priority in US-Tajik co-operation on regional security, it added.
