ODESA, Ukraine -- Ukrainian border guards arrested a Kyrgyz woman on suspicion of belonging to an unspecified illegal armed unit, AKIpress reported, citing Ukraine's State Border Guard Service.

The guards arrested the 24-year-old Kyrgyz woman Tuesday (August 20) at Odesa International Airport. She flew in from Turkey, a transit country for many "Islamic State" (IS) members or aspiring members.

Kyrgyz law enforcement has pursued the suspect for about two years. The Ukrainian authorities found her name on an Interpol list of suspected members of illegal armed units.

She is in Ukrainian custody. Kyrgyz authorities' plans for her were not reported.

Hundreds of Kyrgyz nationals joined IS in Syria and Iraq starting in 2013.
