DUSHANBE -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon recently signed a decree prescribing stricter measures for protecting his country's airports and airspace, CA-News.org reported July 18.
Rahmon signed the decree earlier in July, AsiaPlus.tj reported.
The decree is meant to "prevent terrorist acts, the transport of weapons, munitions and explosives", CA-News.org reported.
Rahmon ordered the State National Security Committee (GKNB) to "carry out a special screening of airport employees, fuel-supplier and catering employees ... and government and other employees who have service jobs in and around airports".
Rahmon instructed security agencies "to carry out [raids] for preventing ... terrorist acts and hijackings" as well as periodic counter-terrorism drills on planes and in airports.
A similar decree will come three months from now, the government said.
