DUSHANBE -- Tajik border forces September 18 killed an Afghan drug trafficker in a shoot-out on the countries' border, Avesta.tj reported September 20, quoting Tajik Border Troops spokesman Mukhammad Ulugkhojayev.
Troops stationed in Khatlon Province encountered a group of Afghan drug traffickers who "refused [the troops'] orders and a shoot-out occurred", Ulugkhojayev said. One trafficker was killed, but his colleagues fled back into Afghanistan.
Tajik forces found about 20kg of hashish, a carbine, and 16 rounds of ammunition on the battlefield.
