Turkmenistan to legally combat human trafficking

By Dzhumaguly Annayev

Ashgabat -- Turkmenistan's parliament approved the Countering Human Trafficking Law as part of the earlier approved 2016-2018 anti-human trafficking national action plan, Vatan Radio reported October 20.

The law establishes an organised and legal foundation for state agencies to combat human trafficking, and also creates a package of measures to protect and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking.

Every year, tens of thousands of Turkmenistanis find work in foreign countries, where they illegally remain on expired visas and become targets of traffickers, NGO reports show.
