Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan to discuss border issues, co-operation

FERGANA, Uzbekistan -- Kyrgyz and Uzbekistani officials are scheduled to meet Thursday (March 29) in Fergana, Uzbekistan, to discuss co-operation between the countries' border provinces, reported Wednesday (March 28).

The meeting is the first of the Council of Heads of Border Regions, which was established as part of a memorandum of understanding signed during a state visit by Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Bishkek last September.

Both countries' prime ministers are leading their delegations.

The council plans to discuss trade development and cultural-humanitarian co-operation.
