NUR-SULTAN -- Kazakh Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov Monday (July 1) began his official visit to the United States, theKazakh Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Atamkulov's visit, made at the personal invitation of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, is his first as foreign minister and the first since the election in June of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as president.
During his two-day visit, Atamkulov, other officials and representatives of the Kazakh business community will discuss political, trade, economic and cultural co-operation with the United States.
The visit will be focused on the development of business ties between the two countries.
Kazakhstan and the United States raised their co-operation to the level of an enhanced strategic partnership during a visit by Nursultan Nazarbayev, the president at the time, to Washington in January 2018.
